The National Folk Dance and Song Ensemble “Tanec” will conclude its anniversary season with a grand gala concert at the National Opera and Ballet on December 22 at 19:00, marking 75 years of celebrating and showcasing the vibrant traditions of Macedonia to the world.
Founded in March 1949 in Skopje, “Tanec” has become a cornerstone of Macedonian cultural identity. Over the years, it has grown into one of the most important cultural institutions, performing over 5,000 concerts on prestigious stages around the world, presenting the rich tapestry of Macedonian folklore.
This special concert will feature a stunning collection of musical and stage gems from the ensemble’s extensive repertoire, including dances like “The Heavy”, “Women’s Boat”, “Dracevka”, “Wedding”, “Djamala”, “Pirin Spring Flower”, and many more. These performances will be accompanied by vocal and instrumental pieces, celebrating Macedonia’s diverse musical heritage.
As the “moving museum” of Macedonian culture, Tanec is home to over 90 choreographies and a unique collection of 3,000 authentic costumes. Its contribution to global cultural heritage and its role in preserving Macedonian traditions are celebrated worldwide.
