The second in the series “ECoC Talks” with representatives of actual and future European Capitals of Culture is with Rijeka 2020. We talked with Irena Kregar Šegota, Chief Executive Office of Rijeka 2020 European Capitals of Culture.
Rijeka was selected to be a Croatian city holding the title European Capital of Culture for the year 2020. Under the programme concept “Port of Diversity” Rijeka developed over 600 cultural, art and other events that involve more than 250 cultural institutions and organisations from Croatia and 40 other countries from Europe and the rest of the world. Due to the effects of the coronavirus crisis, the European Commission proposed that Rijeka can hold their title until April 2021. This proposal was formally adopted by the European Parliament and the Council in December 2020.
