Date: December 19, 2024
Venue: N.U. Theater for Children and Youth
The puppet show Music of My Bird/Music of My Touch will be performed on December 19, 2024, at the N.U. Theater for Children and Youth. Based on the novel by Ana Anisimova, this show is directed and dramatized by Emilija Mrdakovic from Serbia.
The story follows the unusual childhood of a blind girl, narrated from her perspective. It focuses on love for life, happiness, and the ability to create joy, without tragedy. The girl lives in a loving family that ensures she feels no different because of her blindness. The play emphasizes happiness, compassion, and the power of familial love.
The adaptation into Macedonian was done by Dragana Lukan Nikoloski. She explains that the drama intentionally omits the conflict between the protagonist and the outside world, instead highlighting the harmony in the girl’s inner life. The play challenges the societal perception that a blind child is “poorer” due to their inability to visually experience the world, emphasizing the richness of emotional and inner experiences.
