Celebrating 30 Years of “Before the Rain” – A Cultural Legacy

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Before the Rain, the iconic film by Milcho Manchevski, a Golden Gala took place at the Macedonian Philharmonic in Skopje. The event featured the premiere of the restored version of this world-renowned masterpiece, which continues to resonate globally as a symbol of Macedonian cultural heritage. 🎉

The celebration brought together key figures from the film, including actor Rade Šerbedžija, Oscar-winning production designer David Mance, director of photography Manuel Teran, and editor Nicholas Gaster, alongside members of the Macedonian crew: Petar Mirčevski, Silvija Stojanovska, Suzana Kirandžiska, Katerina Kocevska, Zlatko Origjanski, and director Milcho Manchevski himself. 🌟

Rade Šerbedžija shared a touching memory of his first meeting with Manchevski in 1992, where Milcho handed him the script for Before the Rain in a London café. Šerbedžija expressed his immediate connection to the story, which would later define his role in the film.
