Promotion of the Novel “Vetrilishte” by Igor Anghelkov

Date: December 17, 2024, 19:00

This evening at 19:00, the promotion of Igor Anghelkov’s novel “Vetrilishte” will take place at the Writers’ Society of Macedonia (DPM). The book, which marks the author’s tenth jubilee edition, was published at the beginning of last month.

The novel will be discussed by promoter Olivera Korevziroska, who writes in the afterword:

“Vetrilishte” is a delicate and unusual short novel, daring in the domestic literary context. It is a controlled grotesque, at times brutally honest, stripped down to the bone. The raw honesty of the narrative sparks intense interest and discussion among readers. This novel pushes Anghelkov’s writing further in multiple directions, expanding beyond his previous works such as “Double Exposure”, “Shrapnel”, and “Mina”.

Vetrilishte can also be seen as a one-day micro road-narration, but it stands apart from “Kraj-pat”. It delves deeper into reality, self-referentiality, and social observation, using film and music as narrative tools. The novel is narrated by an omniscient narrator (perhaps the author himself), who traverses the dangerous line between reality and truth. The story unfolds in a single day, between two crowings, beginning with the onomatopoeia “kukuriku” at 17:30 and ending with “kukuriku” at 22 – a whole life in just 16 and a half hours.

Igor Anghelkov has previously published works including “Krotki pazarini” (2006), “Kraj-pat” (2010), “Foto sintezha” (2013), “Film.mkd” (2015), “Filmski grad” (2018), “Shrapnel” (2020), “Filmotopia” (2022), “Double Exposure” (2022), and “Mina” (2023).
