Promotion of the Poetry Collection “Bistrica Mirkulovska In Memoriam”

The poetry collection “Bistrica Mirkulovska In Memoriam”, published by the Association of Educators – Literary Creators of Macedonia, will be promoted today at 11:00 AM at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle for Independence in Skopje.

The collection features poetic and prose works by 27 authors, all dedicated to the late Bistrica Mirkulovska, a distinguished writer for children, youth, and adults, as well as a social and humanitarian activist.

Bistrica Mirkulovska, who passed away on September 17, 2024, at the age of 94, was the oldest member of the Writers’ Association of Macedonia (DPM). Born on March 14, 1930, in Skopje, she was a poet, scholar, short story writer, children’s author, and translator. Mirkulovska had a long career as a professor at the Faculty of Philology in Skopje and worked as a proofreader of Macedonian language and literature at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic.

Her literary legacy includes works such as “Cvećenca” (1960), “Gradinche” (1962), “Prvačinja” (1972), “Praznični videlini” (1979), “Rinožito” (1979), “Site decă mili” (1982), “Zvjezdena” (1986), “Videlina” (1989), “Klučarčinja” (1992), “Prekršen let” (1996), and “Koga čutea kosteni” (1997).

Mirkulovska received numerous accolades, including the Potokar Charter from the former Association of Literary Translators of Yugoslavia for translations from Slovenian into Macedonian, and the “Danica Ručigaj” award from DPM in 2017 for her poetry collection “Fatamorgana”.
