The ballet will feature soloists, the ballet ensemble, and the orchestra of the National Opera and Ballet, with special performances by children from the ballet department of DMBUC “Ilija Nikolovski-Luj”.
Synopsis:
Prologue
Don Quixote, accompanied by his loyal servant Sancho Panza, embarks on a quest to find the “Lady of his Heart”, Dulcinea. They travel the world in search of glorious exploits.
ACT I
In Barcelona, Kitri, the daughter of the innkeeper Lorenzo, is in love with Basil, a barber. Despite her father’s wish to marry her to the wealthy Gamache, Kitri and Basil run away together. Don Quixote, mistaking Kitri for Dulcinea, follows them on their journey.
ACT II
Don Quixote and Sancho Panza encounter a gypsy camp where Don Quixote dreams of his beloved Dulcinea. Meanwhile, Kitri and Basil are in a tavern, where they face further challenges and drama. Eventually, Lorenzo is forced to accept the love between Kitri and Basil, leading to a joyous wedding celebration.
Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, ever the adventurers, leave the celebration, ready for new exploits.
